New Delhi :
Well-known wildlife expert and author Valmik Thapar passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 73 after fighting cancer. He spent his life working to protect wild tigers, especially in Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan.
Born in 1952, Thapar came from a respected family. His father was journalist Romesh Thapar, his aunt is famous historian Romila Thapar, and his cousin is journalist Karan Thapar.
Valmik Thapar wrote more than 25 books and appeared in many wildlife documentaries to help people understand and care about India’s tigers. He also worked with the government on wildlife and forest policies and supported local communities in conservation work.
His death is a big loss to India’s environment and wildlife community. However, his work and passion will continue to inspire future generations.
“The tiger is the guardian of our forests,” he once said — a message that will live on through his legacy.
