Moharli (Mohammad Suleman Baig):
On 18 December 2025, a tragic incident occurred in the Padmapur Bitat area under the Moharli Forest Range. Mr. Sahju Chamru Biltheriya (approximately 63 years old), a resident of Pratla village, Mandla district (Madhya Pradesh), was engaged in bamboo cutting work in Compartment No. 181 near Adegav village when he was attacked by a leopard at around 8:30 a.m., resulting in his death on the spot.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Mr. Santosh Thipe, Range Forest Officer, Moharli (Territorial), along with Mr. Sandeep Ekade, Police Inspector, Durgapur Police Station, and their respective teams, rushed to the site. In the presence of forest guards and frontline forest staff, a police panchnama and spot inspection were conducted. The deceased’s body was subsequently sent to the District Hospital, Chandrapur for post-mortem examination.
As immediate relief, an amount of ₹50,000 was provided to the deceased worker’s family at the site. Following the incident, camera traps have been installed in the surrounding area. Further investigation is being carried out by the Range Forest Officer, Moharli.
