Delhi :

The Madhya Pradesh Tiger Strike Force, in a joint operation with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), New Delhi, has arrested notorious tiger trafficker Yangchen Lachungpa from Lachung in North Sikkim. Wanted for almost a decade in multiple tiger poaching and trafficking cases across Central India, Yangchen was finally caught on December 2 after months of surveillance.

A native of Tibet, she had been operating an international illegal wildlife trade network while living in Delhi and Sikkim. Yangchen was first arrested in 2017 but fled after securing bail. The latest action was carried out in sub-zero temperatures near the India–China border. A transit warrant has been obtained from Gangtok, and she will now be brought to Madhya Pradesh for further investigation.
