Chandrapur: In a remarkable step towards wildlife and environmental conservation, the Forest Department has launched a special tree plantation drive on the land of Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station (CSTPS) near Eria Dam in Moharli. This initiative is designed to provide a thriving habitat for both local and migratory birds, ensuring they can flourish without disruption.

According to forest officials, the plantation includes a variety of tree species that serve as essential resources for birds by offering perching, nesting, and food sources. The selected species include Jamun (Syzygium cumini), Babool (Acacia nilotica), Fig (Ficus racemosa), Banyan (Ficus benghalensis), Tamarind (Tamarindus indica), Arjun (Terminalia arjuna), and Neem (Azadirachta indica). Beyond supporting bird conservation, these trees will play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance.

The initiative has received widespread appreciation from nature enthusiasts and conservationists. Birdwatchers and wildlife supporters, including Mohammad Suleman Baig, Vipul Dhawle, Sumeth Waghmare, Ritesh Badki, Shahbaz Sheikh, Shahin Sheikh, Shubam Attram, Punekar, and wildlife expert Ajay Poddar, have praised the plantation drive as a significant step towards preserving biodiversity. The newly planted area is already transforming into a haven for birds venturing out of forests in search of shelter and nourishment.

The Forest Department has called on the local community to take an active role in protecting these trees and promoting environmental conservation. Officials have also reaffirmed their commitment to similar initiatives in the future to strengthen local ecosystems.

The plantation drive was successfully carried out under the guidance of Kushagra Pathak, Deputy Director of the Tadoba Buffer Zone, with dedicated efforts from Santosh Thipe, Moharli Buffer Forest Range Officer, Round Officer S. Jumde, and other staff members at various locations across the Moharli region.

This initiative marks a significant step in fostering a harmonious coexistence between wildlife and human development, reinforcing Moharli’s reputation as a vital hub for conservation efforts.
