■ Demand for Action Against Company Producing Plastic Items under ‘Tigers of Tadoba’ Brand
Chandrapur (Mohammad Suleman Baig):
A serious allegation has been made regarding the violation of the ongoing “Zero Waste Plastic” campaign in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR). Nature tourism guide Rakesh Ramchandra Sherki has submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Director (Buffer), Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, Chandrapur, demanding action against R.K. Mahila Gruh Udyog, a company based in Wadasa, which is reportedly manufacturing and selling plastic products under the brand name “Tigers of Tadoba.”
Sherki pointed out that while Tadoba has pledged to become 100% plastic-free, the use of the “Tadoba” name on plastic products directly contradicts the principles of environmental conservation. He stated that such branding misleads citizens about the authenticity of eco-friendly efforts and could lead to an increase in plastic use.
According to Sherki, Tadoba’s name and reputation should remain associated only with eco-friendly and conservation-oriented initiatives, not with harmful or polluting materials. He has therefore demanded immediate action against the concerned company under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act and the Environment Protection Act.
During the submission of the memorandum to the Forest Range Officer of Palsgaon, several individuals including Bandu Nannaware, Pravin Atram, and Gopi Shendre were present.
