Chandrapur (Mohammad Suleman Baig) The severely injured tiger ‘T-126’, wounded during a territorial clash in the Khadsangi buffer zone of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, has been shifted to the Transit Treatment Centre (TTC), Chandrapur, for necessary medical examination and further treatment.

The rescue operation was carried out under the guidance of Prabhu Nath Shukla, Field Director of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, and Anand Reddy, Deputy Director (Buffer). The operation was supervised on-ground by Assistant Conservator of Forests Aniruddha Dhage, who ensured that the tiger was handled with utmost care to avoid any additional injuries.

It is noteworthy that on 12 May 2025, in Compartment No. 63 of Nimdhela Range within the Khadsangi buffer zone, a fierce territorial fight broke out between two male tigers, ‘T-126’ and ‘T-158’. In the clash, ‘T-158’ was killed, while ‘T-126’ sustained serious injuries.

Based on the recommendations of the technical committee constituted under the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) Standard Operating Procedure, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Maharashtra, and the Chief Wildlife Warden issued an order on 27 August 2025 to tranquilize and shift the injured tiger to the Transit Treatment Centre for medical intervention. This step was taken to ensure that the tiger does not pose a future threat leading to man-animal conflict and to avoid any potential loss of human life.

Accordingly, the crucial rescue and treatment mission was successfully executed.
